Reiki is Universal Life Force Energy that comes from Universe, Divine, Mother Earth, and Father God, and all that holds White/Crystal Light energy. Everyone and everything can be a healer. Reiki works on the levels of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states of being. It balances these four levels in the manner of relaxation, stress reduction, contentment inducing, fear and anxiety reducing, and stopping worries and anger. It increases awareness, insight, wisdom, personal growth, and positivity.
Our bodies are energetic in nature. Our bones resonate at lower frequencies while our blood, thoughts, etc. vibrate at higher frequencies. This magnetic pulse is knows as a bio-magnetic field. In Eastern traditions, this pulse is also known as chi or prana. When a practitioner is performing a healing, or rather channeling the healing, the energy that emanates from their hands produces a significantly large bio-magnetic healing field (7-10Hz Theta and Alpha range) that a non-practitioner wouldn't have. These frequencies are associated with physical healing. During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands on or just above a client's body. The practitioner conducts universal energy from their arms, and out through their hands where it flows into the client's body to parts of the body where is needed the most. When the practitioner and the client come together, they become the two oscillating and vibrating objects as one.
The Reiki method of healing has been around for centuries. Mikao Usui is credited as the founder of Reiki, or, rather, rediscovering of Reiki art in the late 1800s. He was born in Japan, into a family that has been practicing Zen Buddhism for eleven generations. He studied Martial Arts, and also developed a fascination with Western culture and studied allopathic medicine. When he became ill with cholera during an epidemic that spread
throughout Tokyo, he had a near-death spiritual experience that inspired him to study ancient teachings of his ancestors. Usui joined Zen monastery and began studying ancient Sanskrits and Sutras. He went to the top of Mt. Kurama, where for 21 days he prayed and meditated, and there he had a vision of Reiki. Usui called his healing technique Reiki, the Japanese word for Universal Life Force. Reiki was intended to be universal, and not specific to any religion or dogma.
